To become a Clinical Psychologist, trainees must complete a minimum of 6 years full-time university training, the last 2 or 3 years of which are specific to Clinical Psychology practice. Once this training is completed, Clinical Psychologist must fulfil the requirements of a Registrar program, in which they work under the supervision of a Senior Clinical Psychologist to gain admission to the College of Clinical Psychology within the Australian Psychological Society (APS). How do I characterise my Psychological Therapy practice framework?
I work from a Relationship- and Mentalisation-based framework which aims to promote a sense of security within the individual, between he, she or they and significant others, self-reflection and self-awareness. These qualities enable more mindful living and foster self-determined, positive change
